Don't knock Junie B. Jones books - they are a great read.

Junie B. Jones are great books for ANYONE to get hooked on. Junie B. may have bad grammer, but it makes the book more realistic. Children know that bestest, runned, and broughted are not real words. Those kind of words just make reading more interesting. Kids can learn from bad examples too. It's ironic that parents don't protest against Hansel and Gretel or other books like that and how children run away without permission. "Junie B. Jones is cool. I was her for halloween." says a six year old 1st grader. Junie is a funny kid that gets in trouble sometimes. But who doesn't ever get in trouble? These books show children how to deal with kids like her. Barbara Park's series isn't just funny, it's like a trap that gets kids reading all day long. - Written By two fifth graders from Glen Oak Elementary who want to stick up for children.

Junie B. is quite a character!

My whole family enjoys reading these books! Can't wait to read her First Grade adventures. Junie B. is a graduation Girl in May!

A review by an 8 year old girl

It is a very funny book about a girl named Junie Beatrice Jones except she just likes B. and that's all. She has trouble controlling her temper and excitement. Sometimes she yells out "YOU'RE A DUMB BUNNY!" and she calls her teacher "Mrs."...she has another name too but Junie B. just likes Mrs. and that's all. One day Mrs. said, "Boys and girls, please take your seats. I've got a wonderful surprise!" "IS IT JELLY DOUGHNUTS?" Mrs. put her finger to her lips and that means be quiet. "YEAH ONLY GUESS WHAT? JELLY DOUGHNUTS ARE MY MOST FAVORITE EXCEPT I ALSO LIKE OTHER KINDS!" After that, my mouth got very drooly and some drool fell on the table. I wiped it up with my sweater sleeve. Just then there was a knock at the door. Mrs. hurried to open it. "HEY, IT'S A..." to find out who it was...read the book! You didn't expect ME to tell you!

I like Junie B. -- BUT . . .

Like the other Junie B. Jones books, this one was easy to read and funny. However, I really didn't like the extended discussion about whether Mickey Mouse (etc.) is real -- my 6-year-old reader didn't need to find that out from a book!
