Trauma

Like others have said, going in I expected this to be a humorous tale but instead it was a slow reveal of how trauma can continue to affect a person. Kept reading to find out if Elinor would be able to face the truth about her past.

A pleasant ride.

Well crafted and amusing.

Not All That

I bought this book from all the recommendations out there on Booktok. I found this one to be just "eh." It didn't really do anything for me. There wasn't any "Ah Ha" moment or huge plot twist at all. It was really bland. I liked it ok I guess. I don't really get why everyone and their mother was talking about this book. Maybe there's something I'm missing?

I thoroughly enjoyed this book!

E really got to me. I’m a male but connected with her surprisingly well. This book is about a period in her life that covers her whole life. It is sad but very encouraging. I’d recommend this to anyone looking to fight demons in their own life. I liked it a lot

quirky

Such a good read. Eleanor is such a quirky hen.

Loved it.

You'll be glad you got to know Eleanor. I found this book to be delightful and hated to see it ending.

So much better than expected (and my expectations were good)

The synopsis on the back does not do this book justice. I hadn't heard anything about it and expected a 'nothing special, but an easy, make you smile' kind of book; the synopsis portrays it as a fun read about a quirky, socially-awkward woman who finds love. And while that is technically accurate, the book is so much more than that. Wonderfully written, funny, and also heart-wrenching, this book is a must-read. The characters have depth and a realistic quality to them and it's a great story about love, resilience and kindness. If you are specifically looking for a somewhat sappy, chick-lit book as the plot suggests, read a different book. Then after you've finished that one and gotten your chick-lit fix, read this one!

Loved It!

This book is going on my favorites list. I found it to be humorous, authentic, and well-written. I think we can all see a little bit of Eleanor in ourselves.

Not for me

I love Reese’s book club and most of the books she recommends are great but this one sucked. The story line was boring and I just tried to get through it hoping for a wow ending but that even sucked.

Really enjoyable

This book is not exciting. I loved it though. Great character development, story line. I highly recommend.

a very strange book

I don't get what all of the 5 star reviews are about. The book dragged. I only kept reading it because a friend had given it to me & I thought she liked it so I kept plodding along waiting for the good part. A romantic comedy? I felt sad for her most of the time.

Slow at times

Eleanor was a dull character with an infuriating background. However, it doesn’t make up for the fact that she had very little plot. At times, I wanted to drop the book, but I ended up finishing it. Not the best, but it did give some insight into the disease of loneliness.

Didn't totally live up to the hype.

I did really like this one, but I also *rounded up* to 4 stars. I'd probably give it about a 3.5. Eleanor is an interesting character, but the book dragged at times. I've heard this is being developed as a show/movie and I will look forward to watching that. Not sure if I'd recommend this book though, to be completely honest.

Perfect Read

Funny but also very meaningful. This is an excellent read about overcoming past trauma and hope for a new future.

Entertaining!

I found this book to be so endearing, whimsical, funny, a fast read. All the things I like in a book. The characters are very likeable.

Yes

A character you cheer for - funny, quirky, and moves at a great pace.
