Not happy

This book was absolutely in horrible condition and I spent almost $7 on it. I understand it is used, but I ordered good, so it shouldn’t have had dirty hand prints ALL over it, food on it and it had no cover on it. I will be throwing this book out and buying elsewhere.

Family drama and emotional dynamics.

Quick, enjoyable read. Not much depth to the characters and pretty predictable but is a feel good, happy ending fluff piece.

Now I want to move to a house on a lake

Raise your hand if you’d also like to spend a summer in a house on Lake Michigan! 🤚 January Andrews probably feels otherwise though. Her father died suddenly and all his secrets came to light, including his mistress and a second home. Not long after, her boyfriend of several years leaves her. Oh, and she hasn’t been able to write any of her next novel either and she’s run out of the advance from her publisher. So basically- she’s broke. Now she’s come to the point where she has to deal with the house her father’s left her and so she moves in for the summer. Her plan is to sell the house and its contents and try to write her book before her September 1st deadline comes around. Did I mention it turns out her college rival Augustus Everett also owns the house next door? At least the house is rent free, right? Of course, if you’re authors of chick lit and literary fiction, respectively, there’s going to be a genre swap challenge. First one to write and sell a book of the other’s genre wins. But maybe it’s just what they both need. The delightful #EmilyHenry plays with the #grumpsunshine and #rivalstolovers #tropes in #BeachRead to bring these characters to life. January learns maybe they don’t need to be rivals and Gus learns maybe he can have the princess. Much like the last book I read by Emily Henry, Book Lovers, Henry creates characters that are so relatable, both likable but flawed, and with their own insecurities. I could almost picture myself in January’s (super cute) shoes, falling for a man who challenges how you think about the world. And as Gus, learning how to open up and not let past hurts close your heart. Definitely one that I’ll be rereading. I know I’m not the only one on #bookstagram talking about Beach Read right now, but I’ll add my recommendation to the ever growing list.

Makes you wanna write a book yourself

I’ve always love reading and writing and this book fires up both sides of my book brain. It shows the challenges of being a writer, but also has a love story that makes you never wanna put down the book. Beautifully written!

This book is so funny!

It’s been a long time since I’ve laughed out loud at a book but Beach Read is great for laughs!

Good read anywhere... beach not required.

This is my first Emily Henry book but it will not be my last. I loved Gus and his view of the world even if I'm more of a January. Also, the friendship between January and Shadi is so absolutely perfect. Everyone needs a friend like these two. Their shorthand is what makes for long friendships even tho they weren't even "together" for much of the book. All in all, these relationships make January a VERY lucky girl!

Finished in one day!

I absolutely could not put this book down.
